| | | | A note from David
Welcome to the first of our quarterly newsletters, sharing news of what we’ve been up to here at Sovereign Beverage Company, spotlighting some of the fantastic products in our portfolio, and letting you get to know us a little better.
It’s been an incredible few months at SBC. After being thrown into working from home during COVID, we were able to pivot our tech set up to become even more efficient and productive - plus our team was doing their bit for the environment by commuting less. When it came time to return to the office, we chose instead to continue working remotely - a decision you can read more about below.
Spring saw our much-anticipated announcement of our exclusive partnership with Thatchers Cider. We’ve been steadily increasing their awareness on a global basis and got some exciting mentions in the drinks media - you can read the coverage in The Drinks Business below.
June and July saw some exciting news for the team, as we have achieved finalist positions in not one but two prestigious business awards, the BIBAs and the GBEAs! We’re up for Global Business of the Year, and Food & Drink Entrepreneur of the Year. We’ll be putting on our best bib and tucker and attending both events this Autumn, so watch this space for the results!
Speak soon, David | | | Spotlight on... Trooper Beer
Inspired by Iron Maiden, developed in partnership with lead singer Bruce Dickinson, and named after the Iron Maiden song, this premium British beer brings a true depth of character and flavour. A unique blend of Bobek, Goldings and Cascade hops give this deep golden ale a subtle hint of lemon. It’s never been a better time to showcase Trooper globally as Iron Maiden are currently on their Legacy of the Beast World Tour. Trooper Beer is available in 500ml cans, 500ml bottles, 330ml bottles and 30L one-way kegs.
Meet the team member Steven Marks, Head of IT
Steven has been with SBC for almost ten years, after first joining on a short term contract in 2013. After initially being brought on board to implement an ERP system, it became evident that there was ample opportunity for other IT systems to be put into place, making SBC as efficient as possible and fit for the future. In his time at the company, Steven has redesigned the company website, developed an easy-to-use product finder, and administers the SBC data warehouse which enables advanced reporting and performance measurement. His next big project is the implementation of the new Customer Declaration Service. | | Outside of work, Steven loves cruising and has completed over 40 cruises! He plays both golf and guitar (of which he owns five!), and spends his free time (outside of cruising, golfing and jamming) with his family and Pembrokeshire Corgi. | | | | | | David appeared on ITV’s flagship morning news programme Good Morning Britain to discuss his decision to give the team time off during the heatwave. You can watch the debate here. | | Following the decision for SBC to become a permanently remote working business, David was interviewed by Authority Magazine about the things you need to know to manage a remote team.
